PNEV - Portuguese Network on Extracellular Vesicles

The Portuguese Network Extracellular Vesicles (PNEV) was founded by three Portuguese researchers: M. Helena Vasconcelos (i3S/IPATIMUP/FFUP), Anabela Cordeiro-da-Silva (i3S/IBMC/FFUP) and Susana Santos (i3S/INEB). Recognizing the lack of a formal organization dedicated to uniting researchers in the field of Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) in Portugal, they organized the inaugural meeting in July 2019 at i3S in Porto. This event led to the formation of  PNEV as an unofficial network, with the goal of bringing together the Portuguese EV community and representing it internationally.

Following two highly successful PNEV scientific meetings and additional events, PNEV was officially established as a Research Association in July 2024. The association aims to foster collaborations and promote synergies within the Portuguese scientific community, both in Portugal or internationally.

PNEV is delighted to welcome all participants to its 3rd scientific meeting - PNEV2025. As we convene for the first time as an official association, we look forward to vibrant scientific discussions and unique opportunities to strengthen existing collaborations while forging new ones – further advancing Portuguese EV research and innovation.

EVCA

EVCA - Extracellular Vesicles in Clinical Applications

EVCA stands for Extracellular Vesicles in Clinical Applications and is an acronym of the project titled “Centre for Excellence in Diagnostic and Advanced Therapeutics based on Extracellular Vesicles”. EVCA focuses in three pillars: 1) methods and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for EVs, 2) advanced therapeutics based on EVs, and 3) diagnostics based on EVs.

By partnering with two internationally leading institutions, Institut Curie, France, and CIC bioGUNE, Spain, EVCA will leverage the existing multidisciplinary knowledge and experience, research and training best practices, widen collaborative networks, and step up the excellence of the researchers and research management at NOVA Medical School.

EVCA project contributes to the organization of 3rd PNEV meeting as part of its dissemination and outreach efforts (WP6). This event is one of the planned international events to foster knowledge transfer. This event will gather young and experienced researchers from the EVs field including invited experts and EVCA consortium members aiming to foster cross-fertilization and the advancement of EV research.
